About Glycomer

Company

Glycomer was formed in 2000 by Dr. Kuhn who had at that time more than 20 years professional background in the production, application, R&D, strategic sourcing and marketing of auxiliaries with emphasis on polysaccharides, enzymes, surfactants and additives for the food, feed, paper, construction, mining, textile, leather, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.

The name Glycomer is composed of the Greek words glycos (γλυκός) meaning sweet, referring to sugar, and polymer, referring to poly (πολυ) meaning many, and meros (μερος) meaning part. In other words, the term Glycomer was created to demonstrate our competence and business activities in the field of polymeric macromolecules based on sugar units, large molecules composed of many parts of sugar entities, namely carbohydrates or polysaccharides of agricultural and marine origin.

In recent years Glycomer focused on the development and marketing of tailor-made galactomannan and polyglucan derivatives for highly specialised industries.

Especially in the field of galactomannans, Glycomer has a track record of more than 30 years of experience. A selection of various patent papers, mostly pioneering in the commercialisation of Cassia gum, written and edited by Dr. Kuhn as inventor, gives an impressive insight into Glycomer's expertise.
